1995 Curated first indigenous art exhibition at the Cairns Regional Gallery – “Now Days, Early Days” – of paintings and prints from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates of the Visual Arts Course.

The gap in my active arts involvement 1980-1984 reflects the time I spent on a cruising yacht with my husband exploring the east coast of Australia before re-settling in Cairns.

In 1984 I was appointed as coordinator and teacher with the first Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Visual Arts Course offered at the Cairns Institute of TAFE. As a full time teacher I became totally involved in the development and structuring of the course.

Over the next few years I exhibited and sold works through Cairns and Tableland galleries but work commitments left me little time to build a body of works for a solo exhibition.

The different group exhibitions I was involved in before the major show ‘Rock of Ages: Lines of Connection’ at the Cairns Regional Gallery were all exciting experiences and, as in the case of ‘Murries and Mates’ meant presenting up to ten pieces by each artist.
